Premium professional wrestling action
AEW: Fight Forever is an online co-op sports game that features arcade-style pro wrestling action and fully licensed wrestlers from All Elite Wrestling (AEW). The title offers a wide variety of match types, single- and multiplayer content, creation modes, and much more.
With AEW: Fight Forever, Yuke’s has adopted a different approach to most of the other modern wrestling games on the market, including WWE 2K22 and Fire Pro Wrestling World. The gameplay is primarily inspired by older wrestling games made by AKI Corporation, such as WWF No Mercy.
A healthy dose of nostalgia
A wide range of wrestlers from All Elite Wrestling is present in the game. Examples include Chris Jericho, Sting, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Hikaru Shida, Dr. Britt Baker, and Jon Moxley. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler are available in the DLC FTR: Revival Pack, which also comes with Join Us and Death Race-X mini-games.
The nostalgic feel of AEW: Fight Forever is most apparent in the control system, which draws heavily from the aforementioned AKI games. This results in a more simplified experience than modern WWE games. There’s also more emphasis on local multiplayer gameplay. Users can pick up and play without learning intricate mechanics.
Variety of match types
In addition to specialist match types, Singles and Tag-team Match modes are included. A Ladder Match, a Casino Battle Royale, and an Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match are all offered. The career mode lets players control their favorite characters and experience handling a pro wrestler as a coach. Various customization options are available as well.
The WWE 2K games excel in terms of visual performance, realistic wrestler likeness, and polished sim-style gameplay. However, AEW: Fight Forever has a slightly more niche appeal focused on arcade gameplay and nostalgia for AKI games.
Great for wrestling fans
For hardcore fans of pro wrestling video games, especially from the late 1990s and early 2000s, AEW: Fight Forever has plenty to offer. Plus, its various game modes should keep players coming back for more.
