Fight an army of monkeys in Ace Banana
Ace Banana is a first-person VR shooter in which you must defend your stash of bananas against a horde of hungry monkeys. As an elite Banana Archer, you wield a bow capable of launching a wide range of different types of ammunition, from simple sucker-tipped arrows to coins and even hedgehogs.
An absurd battle
Ace Banana doesn’t take itself very seriously, and its graphic style reflects this. The character designs are crisp and clear, combining cartoonish brightness with a simplicity that doesn’t overtax the system. Using PS Move controllers adds immersive fun as you aim, pull back, and release your bow. Game play is very simple; wave after wave of monkeys come at you, and you shoot them. Shoot enough of them and you’ll be rewarded with a more challenging boss fight. A special projectile lets you teleport around; otherwise, you remain stationary as you shoot.
Just monkey business
Ace Banana is a pretty straightforward VR shooter, elevated by the enjoyable (though tiring) bow action and the fun cartoon characters. Gameplay can get a little repetitive after a while, and some of the mechanics could use better explanation, but for short games it’s good, silly fun.
