Bewitching first-person adventure game
A Bewitching Revolution is a free adventure title created by an indie developer who goes by the name Colestia. It is a first-person point-and-click game that tells the story of a communist witch trying to find her way and fighting for her future in a cyberpunk capitalist city.
Similar to Realpolitiks or Capitalism 2, A Bewitching Revolution features a narrative that leans heavily on sociopolitical themes and ponders on concepts of communism and capitalism. It does so in a rather unique way with a distinct setting and by looking at it from the viewpoint of the occult.
Cyberpunk with a dash of the occult
Video games are no stranger to the genre of politics. Differing from war titles, it caters to a very specific group of players who want to delve deep into the philosophical and often emotionally-driven political topics and discussions. A Bewitching Revolution is one of those games that will try to make you think, and it approaches the whole thing from a unique angle and perspective.
In this game, you play a communist witch living in a very capitalistic cyberpunk world. Help the city and its citizens with the powers of witchcraft. Use tarot card reading to peak into the future. Cast spells and brew potions to help the people and revitalize plant and animal life in this concrete jungle you’re residing in. Do your best to help “awaken” everyone into the reality of things.
You can also help them by teaching them about flora and fauna, as well as how to form collective groups to help support their ideal and be able to stand up in revolution. It’s an intriguing and moving story that you can enjoy for about an hour. Some might argue that the playthrough is short, but it really all depends on the person playing it.
