A retro role-playing clicker game

RogueClick is a premium role-playing title created by indie developer Chrysolite Software. It’s a clicker game that features retro pixel graphics and simple one-click gameplay. In it, players will take on a “choose your own adventure” approach as they start off with nothing and see how far they can go.

Similar to Clicker Heroes, RogueClick features simplistic combat, but it offers RPG elements like various character glasses and a whole slew of gear to collect and equip. The game is also available in a Lite version that serves as a demo of sorts to give players a sense of its gameplay.

From zero to hero

In RogueClick, you essentially start with nothing, and you have to work your way up the food chain, so to speak. In it, you play as a humble farmer with dreams of rising above your station and becoming king one day. With your trusty and mighty wooden sword by your side, you start making a name for yourself, taking on quests, defeating enemies, and slowly amassing wealth.

Combat-wise, this game isn’t the most immersive or gives deep experience, but it makes up for it with a variety of RPG elements and mechanics in place. You get 5 character classes to choose from, as well as over 60 unique items to collect. There are 8 levels to go through while facing more than 15 enemy types and 8 bosses at the end of each one.

You’ll be facing enemies that grow ever-tougher with each encounter. Thankfully, you have been given full control of how you want to mix and match your gear and come up with the best combo to finally beat that pesky boss. One thing that the game could definitely benefit from in future updates is some sort of auto-clicker function for attacks—to spare your fingers for the grueling battles ahead.

The only way is up

RogueClick manages to stand apart from other clicker games with its retro charms and approach to its RPG mechanics. It lets you control the whole experience, figuring out what gear loadout would be best in each encounter, and there is something rather satisfying about it. If you’re a fan of the genre and want something new to play, this one is worth a try.
