Free-to-use credit management app
Premier America CU is a free-to-use productivity app from the Premier America Credit Union. This mobile banking platform lets you plan your expenses, make budgets, monitor your savings, and pay your bills online. It offers secure access, from viewing multiple accounts to making online payments.
While Premier America CU is associated with a particular credit union, it’s worth noting that the app facilitates transfers and transactions with almost every major financial institution. It works well with other banking apps, such as Chime Mobile Banking or the Bank of America Private Bank, albeit with a few restrictions.
Take control of your finances
Right off the bat, Premier America CU uses a minimalist layout that looks dated. It mostly features solid colors and plain text, which sometimes makes the app feel outdated. However, for people after features and not much on the visual appeal, the app has everything you need. To facilitate security it requires you to register for an account and log in to your account.
The app lets you register and monitor different accounts. This includes your savings and checking accounts and active credit lines, giving you access to real-time balance information and transaction history. Another feature worth noting is the expenditure tracker. This lets you input your expenses and includes a pie chart showing how much of your budget goes to every aspect, making it an intuitive budgeting aid.
Still, there are a couple of aspects that inhibit the user experience. For one, OTP codes are sent via email instead of mobile SMS. This makes it inconvenient for users since it requires opening a different app, usually those without notifications. Similarly, the app’s use of your device camera makes it difficult to take photos and upload cheques for deposits or payments.
Useful for data access, not much for transactions
Overall, Premier America CU remains a promising app, especially for customers of Premier America. While the design and interface are up for debate, the app’s basic features and capabilities are sufficient to meet awareness and data access needs. However, making transactions with the app is an entirely different experience, with OTP and camera features requiring immediate adjustments. Basically, it’s good for checking accounts, but not for making transactions.
