Survive across endless worlds

Gatewalkers is a premium cooperative action game developed by A2 Softworks. This game features multiplayer survival elements as you choose your warrior and travel across different worlds to save other people like yourself. Brave the elements and fight the inhabitants long enough for you to save your target and find the way to the next.

Its third-person RPG elements, set and character design choices, procedurally-generated worlds, and skill-based combats make Gatewalkers feel like Diablo III or Borderlands 2. However, its fantasy-style aesthetic might feel a little too overused for this genre.

A tribute to old-school RPGs

A lot about Gatewalkers screams old-school RPGs like Dungeon Siege, Diablo, Torchlight, and more–making it look dated instead of being a newer game. From its graphics down to the scale of the players on the screen, and even its interface evokes a good feeling of nostalgia. However, there’s still a lot more to this game. For starters, the set designs are more varied and more vibrant, thanks to better technology.

What makes this game extremely addictive is its wealth of content. Right from the start, it has wide customization options for your characters. Then, you have to choose which techs to develop from its large tech tree. Lastly, you choose which skills you’ll bring to the next world you’ll be visiting. This large combination of possibilities will give a lot of opportunities, even as you play with four players.

Another addictive feature of the game is its use of procedurally-generated worlds. They are not only for show but they pose unique challenges for you and your teammates. From toxic atmospheres to vision-limiting darkness, maps will force you to plan ahead of every stage. Also, its survival mechanics include setting up camp for you to spend the night in, like playing The Forest in a way.

Better with friends

Gatewalkers, in all its wealth of content, is a great game whether you play it solo or with a four-man team. It allows for a lot of gameplay preferences, from its character customization to the extensive tech tree. This is more than mindless button mashing; this game will force you to plan and strategize with your skills and your items — if you are to survive.
