A modern game for the C64 computer

Bezerk is a free complete game that is released under a name your own price model. The game has been Commodore 64 computer system—like Pillars (C64), and Bagman Comes Back (C64 Version)—though it can be played on modern hardware using a C64 emulator.

The game features simple graphics—as is the case for games on the C64—and easy-to-grasp gameplay mechanics, meaning it should be possible for even inexperienced players to quickly pick up the rules of the game.

Simple gameplay

The premise of Bezerk is quite simple. The player controls the main character in a top-down fashion, with each screen being a static, self-contained level. The level is populated by robots, and the player’s goal is to get to the exit without being killed by the robots. Bonus points are awarded if the player kills all of the robots before exiting a level.

Simple graphics

As with all games from the C64’s era, the graphics of Bezerk are extremely simple, with the player and robots being made of a single-color pixellated stick-man style and the levels being plain black backgrounds with single line walls. The audio is also quite basic, as the game uses the C64 sound chip (or an emulation of it) to produce the sound effects.

An authentic port of a popular classic

Though the game is itself for an old computer system, it is actually a port of a popular arcade classic and has been praised for being a particularly accurate one. Some players have reported that the audio sounds garbled on real hardware, as opposed to playing in an emulator, but other than that, the game has no known issues.
