Virtual reality movement controlled endless runner
Train Harder is a virtual reality endless runner with some physical movement tasks. Stand atop an old Western-style train and squat and dodge obstacles to earn high scores in 4 game modes.
Train training
Billed as something between a basic video game and a way to exercise, Train Harder uses movement based virtual reality controls to combine simple physical actions with endless runner mechanics. Players start levels by standing on a train, dodging or squatting to avoid overhanging lamps. These obstacles speed up as levels progress until one is hit. Some additional game modes feature more straightforward physical challenges such as 30 squats and a somewhat strange ranked social mode. The main issue with Train Harder is the limited functionality of a VR device. Stepping left and right continuously for twenty minutes becomes tiresome while never being an effective exercise. A constant danger of accidental hitting walls or tripping over wires also hampers enjoyment.
Tired tracks
Train Harder is an interesting concept let down by a lack of content and physical limitation. It is hard to imagine the player who well want to step left and right for hours on end against a looping backdrop.
