Another battle in the Japanese underworld

Yakuza 5 Remastered is an enhanced version of the action-RPG title Yakuza 5. Those who have played the original will find essentially the same gameplay mechanics and narrative but with a new look. Having been remastered, the title now benefits from 1080p resolution and 60 fps animation.

The storyline of Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2, and the other Yakuza titles continues here. Yakuza 5 Remastered boasts five story arcs for the player to work through. They must guide the protagonist on his largest underworld adventure to date.

Kazuma Kiryu returns for another battle

The saga of the Yakuza series continues in Yakuza 5 Remastered. Series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu has turned his back on his life of crime and become a taxi driver. When he learns of conflicts stirring between the crime families of five cities, he reluctantly embarks on a new mission. The player’s job is to guide Kiryu through an elaborate storyline.

An RPG with action

Like the other entries in the series, Yakuza 5 Remastered combines elements of RPG and action. The AI is more sophisticated than in earlier Yakuza games, leading to more elaborate fight sequences, particularly where bosses are concerned. In this remastered version, improved animation makes the fights look better than before.

An adult-oriented crime saga

Yakuza 5 Remastered is very much a game for adults. It pulls no punches in offering a brutal crime saga, with both sex and violence major parts of its storyline. As with the other Yakuza games, children should keep well away from the title.

A fan favorite gets remastered

Given how much of a graphical upgrade it gives its source game, Yakuza 5 Remastered will suit two audiences. Players who want to revisit the original with a new look will appreciate the enhancements, while newcomers will find this the best introduction to the Yakuza 5 story.
