Stop time to beat puzzles
Time is becoming the fourth dimension for gaming, and like Braid, TimeStill requires you to manipulate time intelligently to solve puzzles and climb platforms.
Unlike Braid, TimeStill is presented with cold, flickery graphics that are striking but give the game a tense, uncomfortable atmosphere. Luckily, the simple platform controls, combines with the Z key that pauses time, makes for a fun game.
Pausing time is necessary to avoid dangers, and to transform things into usable items. Bullets, for example, can be used as platforms for reaching high places when time has stopped.
The design is intelligent, and while there are 24 levels, they stay interesting without getting too difficult. Indie games are often unforgiving, and it’s nice to find a game that doesn’t require hardcore skills to complete it.
The cold atmosphere won’t be to everyone’s taste, but if you can take it, TimeStill is a well designed and highly playable puzzle platform game.
