An encyclopedia of information
Mass Effect 3 Datapad is a companion app to the game.
Mass Effect 3 Datapad can be used to interact with your game and influence the single player campaign. Designed also as a database for the massive amount of information in the Mass Effect series, you can learn all the details of the game, from characters to factions.
The connectivity of Mass Effect 3 Datapad is interesting because you are able to receive messages from characters in Mass Effect 3 and influence chances of success against Reapers in Mass Effect 3 by playing a time-based strategy game in the app.
By increasing the Readiness Rating in Mass Effect 3 Datapad, it affects your single player game. With each area of the map you control, you gain coins which can be used for upgrades.
Mass Effect 3 Datapad also features a media section where you can see videos and screenshots of the game. The app is essentially a bundle of information about the series and a small interactive mini-game that requires little attention to complete.
Since Mass Effect 3 Datapad is an Electronic Arts app, it connects to Origin, and you have to be signed in to connect to your game. Mass Effect 3 Datapad has the same problem as other Origin apps with a large lag in the connection, options not working, or the app freezing entirely. If you have not played Mass Effect 3 yet, the inter-game connection serves no purpose, but the database of information is comprehensive and great for fans who want to know everything about the series.
Mass Effect 3 Datapad is a great companion to the game, only stunted by the necessity of Origin.
The Mass Effect 3 Datapad Patch 1.1 includes bug fixes and updates to the Alliance News, Media, Mail, and Galaxy at War sections of the application.
