Space-themed RPG for PC

Soma Union is a free role-playing game for PC made by indie developer, torch60. It is a space-themed RPG that is the long-awaited follow-up to the previous game, Soma Spirit, and continues from where its story left off, featuring over 10 hours of new content to play and experience.

Similar to games like Crashlands or Roguelands, Soma Union features retro pixel art style and graphics. Players will join a cast of quirky characters on their adventure throughout the galaxy to rebuild the home that they lost to a great calamity.

What is Soma Union all about?

After the events of Soma Spirits, your homeworld was left destroyed due to a great calamity that befell it. This disaster has left you and a small crew wandering through space with no place to go. Determined to bring everything back, you will embark on a journey all over the cosmos in search of the scattered fragments that you’ll need to put your home back together.

You and each member of your crew have a specific role to play on the ship and during battles with enemies. These creatures, called Spirits, are curious fellows, and it’s up to you to figure out how best to utilizes their strengths. You will get to meet a cast of colorful characters to help you along your journey. You also have to make decisions in the game that affect how the story unfolds.

Lastly, there are items called Power Gems that you can use to skip enemy encounters. Alternatively, you can tough it out and fight them, and in return, you have a chance at gaining rare prizes. Now, if this is your first introduction to the series, it would be best to play Soma Spirits first to get a better understanding of the overall narrative and enjoy the experience a lot more.

A great sequel

Overall, Soma Union was worth the wait and is a great sequel to Soma Spirits. It picks up where the previous game left off and provides over 10 hours of gameplay and story for fans of the series to enjoy and experience. The graphics are great, the gameplay is fun and challenging, and the role system adds another layer of complexity and variability to the game. Recommended.
