Supernatural horror adventure game
Shadowed Home is a free adventure game created by indie developer PiranhaKnightsProductions. It is a first-person horror title set in an ordinary home wherein players will need to investigate the strange and disturbing noises that are ringing out throughout their house at night.
Just like Toiletrooms or Gardens of a New World, Shadowed Home utilizes low-polygon graphics for its design that were inspired by classic titles from the PS1 era. This survival horror game features elements of the supernatural in the form of monsters that players will need to avoid during their gameplay.
Home alone
Shadowed Home starts with you waking in the middle of the night to the disturbing sounds of things that could only be described as demonic. You ponder if you should go downstairs to investigate or just stay in bed and pretend that nothing is going on. However, your TV says otherwise and you have to brave the dark and find out the source of the noise.
Armed with your phone and an on-screen map, you will start exploring and investigating every room in your house to find the source of the noise. You will switch on their lights to slowly illuminate your home and to get a better view of your surroundings. There will be indicators if the light inside a specific area is already on, making it a bit easier to navigate in the dark.
The light will be a crucial element as you play through the game as it will determine how far you’ll go and how long until you encounter something sinister and demonic. One thing to be aware of is that playing through the game is variable, but will ultimately be a short one. There is plenty of replayability here though as you try to reach farther with each attempt.
Hide and seek
Overall, Shadowed Home joins the wave of PS1-style games that have been coming out left and right lately. It has the look and whole horror survival down and adds its own unique twist with its clever use of light in its gameplay. If you’re a fan of these types of games, be sure to check this one out. Highly recommended.
