The classic Total War game comes to mobile devices

ROME: Total War – Alexander is the second expansion for ROME: Total War, the other being Barbarian Invasion. Originally released for Microsoft Windows in 2006, ROME: Total War – Alexander now comes for iOS and Android devices following the earlier port of ROME: Total War. As a mobile port, ROME: Total War – Alexander features the same graphics, sound design, and mechanics of the original game. However, the game’s interface has been updated to fit mobile device screens better. Polished and optimized for mobile gaming, ROME: Total War – Alexander is a must-have title for old fans who want to relive the glory of ROME: Total War.

Same Game, Different Device

ROME: Total War – Alexander is set at an earlier time period to the main ROME: Total War campaigns. Instead, it follows the exploits of the titular Alexander as he tries to conquer his way across continents to reach the powerful Persian Empire. To achieve his goal, Alexander must exhibit talent in both political strategy and battle tactics. Help him bring together his Greek city-state allies and lead a united assault against his Persian enemies. Establish a sprawling empire that’s worthy of the name Alexander the Great. Players can also recreate famous historical battles such as the Battle of Chaeronea, Battle of the Granicus, and the Battle of Gaugemala, the battle that cemented Alexander’s tactical genius and changed the course of history. ROME: Total War – Alexander doesn’t veer too far from the established mechanics of the main game and the original port. As mentioned above, the most notable changes made to the game is its interface. From the graphics to the music, ROME: Total War – Alexander is an incredibly faithful port to modern devices. As such, fans of the original Total War games would be happy to have this on their devices, while detractors won’t find anything here to change their minds. Still, it’s a worthwhile game to pick up for both history and strategy fans alike.
