First-Person Horror Game Based on an Actual Crime

Hinter is a horror-based exploration game that has been based on actual events. It is associated with a series of murders that took place at a Bavarian farm in 1922 (the Hinterkaifeck Farm Murders). The player takes on the role of an explorer who must unravel a series of events in order to solve the case.

The dark atmosphere of this game is combined with jumpscares in order to provide a truly immersive experience. Hinter can, therefore, be compared to other platforms such as The House in the Woods. As the player progresses, the storyline becomes even more surprising. It is ideal for those who enjoy the first-person mystery genre.

A dark and immersive experience

Hinter immediately propels players into a foreboding and strange atmosphere. This role-playing game requires the user to solve tasks, attempt challenging puzzles, and gather clues through investigation.

Realistic environments and chilling sound effects

Hinter provides an additional level of realism thanks to highly engaging imagery and sound effects. This helps keep the player entertained and contributes to the scares that occur along the way.

Are there alternatives similar to Hinter?

Other horror-based platforms offer a similar experience when compared to Hinter. Twelve Floors Below, Heir Obscure, and Rides with Strangers are some popular examples. As well as a decidedly dark atmosphere, all of these are associated with thrilling RPG gameplay.

Not for the faint of heart

Hinter offers a truly dark overall experience and is suited for those who enjoy being thrust into scary environments. However, it is also unique in the fact that it is based on a true crime case. This scenario for a game is quite rare to encounter.
