Passing By is a free adventure video game that was created by Marius Mühleck for PC devices. This 2D puzzle-platformer game won the “Young Talent Award: Best Prototype” award from the renowned German Computer Game Prize and has since made the game available for everyone to experience and enjoy.
Similar to other puzzle platformer games like Unravel, Passing By features a beautiful 2D low-poly art style that is captivating to witness. It also boasts challenging platform mechanics and various puzzles for you to encounter throughout your journey and needs to be solved to progress through its story.
What is Passing By about?
Passing By is set in a beautiful low-poly world that centers around Curly, a young balloonist tasked with delivering a mysterious letter. The game takes inspiration from various genres, such as adventure, platforming, and survival games, to create a unique game experience. Travel from island to island using your balloon, solve various puzzles, and manage your resources to survive the journey.
Passing By’s control list is fairly long. Press the A and D keys to run or swim. The W and S keys are for climbing, going through doors, and diving. Press the Spacebar to jump, the E key for interactions and dialogue, and TAB for your inventory. Interacting and combining items in your inventory are done with the Left Mouse Button.
To continue, the ESC key is for closing windows, skipping dialogues, and access the game’s menu. You can adjust your camera using the Mouse Wheel. Lastly, the P key is for photo mode, and the Arrow Keys to move the camera while inside this mode. Passing By’s control scheme can be rather complicated, but you’ll get used to it in time.
