Outlive the risen dead in this free FPS game

Left to Survive or Left to Survive: Shooter PVP is a free-to-play action video game wherein you must survive hordes of deadly zombies out to destroy your home. Developed by My.com B.V., this 3D survival horror first-person shooter features base-building mechanics and multiplayer modes.

Unlike most modern zombie games, Left to Survive is an on-rails shooter game and restricts your player character’s movement to only aiming and shooting. Add the fact that this is the PC port of the original mobile version and you should expect some features to feel unintuitive when played on PC for the first time.

Can you play Left to Survive offline?

In Left to Survive, the world has been ravaged by a zombie apocalypse and humanity is on the brink of extinction. You first play as Michael, a survivor who ends up taking two escapees from the tyrannical New Earth Republic (NER) government into your humble camp. You must both improve your base by building various resource-generating facilities and fight against the zombies and NER.

There are four game modes available: Campaign, Expeditions, PvP, and Base Raid—with the last two being multiplayer modes. The PvP mode, in particular, is the only one that removes the on-rails movement and gives you full control over your character—letting you compete in solo and 2-vs-2 matches. Outside of these modes is the base-building element, which is simply about earning enough currency and materials to build facilities.

Gameplay-wise, this title is a pretty solid on-rails shooter—although the levels are always pretty short and they constantly display the rewards page like in the mobile version. It even has a hero collection system and gives you various characters with different abilities and weapons they can wield. However, you will need a permanent and stable internet connection to be able to run this.

A good PC port

All in all, Left to Survive is a nice little shooter game to try out if you like varied gameplay mechanics. While some aspects can feel strange when played on desktop, the game is overall fun and doesn’t bombard you with frenetic FPS action. It’s free but it also offers some discounts and promos to skip the wait for some features, if you have the cash.
