A sandbox demo combat game
Light Corp. is a free interactive demo, though players can choose to support the developer if they wish, as it is released under a “name your own price” model. It features combat and parkour mechanics and is a sandbox experience with no narrative or progression to experience.
The program essentially serves as a demo of the player mechanics in a game called Fight Corps. The two central aspects of the character controller are parkour mechanics — similar to those found in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and combat similar to that found in Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor.
Hack, slash, and climb
Light Corp. takes the player controller from another offering by the developer called Fight Corp. and allows the player to run around a small sandbox world using that controller. The player can run around, jump, and climb on various obstacles, as well as try out various attacks on practice dummies.
Smooth controls and fluid movement
Light Corp. features satisfyingly smooth controls that lend themselves especially well to gamepads and arcade sticks. The game does keep a score based on the player’s attacks and moves, but the score does not apply to anything. There is also a time trial feature, though nothing to compete against other than the player’s own score.
A short experience
While the controls and movement mechanics are very satisfying to use, there is little to this game. It serves as little more than a tech demo for Fight Corps.
Players can attempt to beat their own score in a time trial, but there is nothing more to do in the game other than run around and attack dummies. That being said, it should serve as a useful taste for a player looking to purchase Fight Corps.
