Many programmers find that Visual C++ IDE is too bulky to use regularly. Its overloaded with many features that programmers don’t necessarily need.

CREdit is a lightweight alternative that allow work with command-line tools (like compilers and linkers), supports syntax colorization for user-definable languages (like assemblers for proprietary ASICs), and to be easy to use (fully configurable and with scripting support).

CREdit editor is still a work in progress and new features are expected to be added in the near future.
