Compliment someone you admire anonymously

Gas is a free social networking app that allows you to say something nice about your friends or send them an anonymous compliment. This new app from Find Your Crush LLC has quickly become a hit with teens thanks to its unique experience.

Unlike apps such as NGL or ASKfm, which allow you to send messages to a specific person, Gas makes use of polls based on the friends or contacts you’ve added to inform your chosen person that someone anonymous has picked them. Some possible polls include “Who do you secretly admire?” and “Whose smile makes my heart melt?”

Say something sweet

Gas took its name from the Gen Z slang “to gas someone up” or to praise someone in order to make them feel better about themselves. You can choose the school you go to in order to easily find your friends and other people from your year. The app also offers in-app purchases that allow you to see who picked you for certain polls.

Its purpose is quite simple and direct to the point. The interface is also pretty minimalistic and easy to navigate. As an added safety measure, there’s also no in-app chat or direct messaging feature. While this can be a deal breaker for certain people, it’s actually a good way of making sure that all interactions within the application are limited to positive polls.

However, some parents may raise some concerns regarding the fact that the app does use location services to find nearby schools their children attend. Worry not, though, as it does not save your child’s location in their servers. This information will not be linked to any accounts, either, as they are only used once when your child joins a group of people they know from school.

A positive influence

There’s a good reason why Gas has become so popular in such a short amount of time since its launch. It offers a unique way for teens to compliment each other in a simplified and modernized slambook-style platform. While there are some concerns regarding online safety, especially with certain permissions needed to join the app, it’s relatively safer compared to other anonymous messaging apps.
