Puzzle Game With Point-and-Click Controls
Nancy Drew: Ghost of Thornton Hall is a point-and-click adventure and puzzle game, originally released in 2013 and developed by Her Interactive. It is the 28th game in the long-runnning Nancy Drew detective game series, which is, in turn, loosely based on the Nancy Drew novels. Players take on the role of the title character, a teenage detective, and the game is played from a first-person perspective.
Fictional Setting
Unlike many of the other games in the Nancy Drew Series, Ghost of Thornton Hall takes place in a fictional setting – Blackrock Island. The plot is inspired, at least in part, by the novel ‘Uncivil Acts’, and sees Nancy investigate a disappearance at an uninhabited venue called Thornton Hall. Gameplay uses classic point-and-click controls, and places a great emphasis on puzzle-solving and exploration.
A Genuine Challenge
While the game does include two different difficulty levels, with the ‘amateur’ setting offering easier puzzles and more hints, it provides a genuine challenge and the puzzles can be hard to solve. Although the controls are slightly frustrating at times and the sub-plots are less engaging than the main story, Nancy Drew: Ghost of Thornton Hall is a solid entry in the series and should satisfy long-term fans and new players alike.
