Endless RPG runner game for PC

Dungeon Stars is a premium role-playing game for PC developed by Furnace Games. It is a side-scrolling action title that incorporates endless runner mechanics into its gameplay. In it, players raid various dungeons to free imprisoned stars and send them back to the sky.

Similar to Guacamelee! Gold or Cuphead, Dungeon Stars has players face multiple enemies and bosses across various action-packed levels. It features a cast of unique characters with special skills and abilities to let them find a playstyle that suits them. There is also plenty of magical loot that provides bonuses and perks.

Free the stars

Dungeon Stars is an action side scroller set in a fantasy world filled with magical creatures and deadly monsters. In it, you are tasked with raiding dungeons to rescue your fellow heroes, free imprisoned stars, and try your hand at defeating the Conqueror Worm. Choose from 15 distinct characters to form a team of heroes to help you on your quest, each with its own strengths and special abilities.

The gameplay combines hack and slash combat with some RPG elements and endless runner mechanics. You will take on procedurally generated challenges as you face wizards, goblins, and other fearsome monsters. Level up your heroes using components you collect from battles to increase their power. Also, you will be able to discover magical items scattered throughout levels that give you special bonuses and perks when equipped.

In addition to freeing your comrades and the stars, you will also be able to help liberate captured creatures that can become your pet companions and provide support during battle. The game lacks depth and variety when it comes to the gameplay though. The experience becomes a drawn-out exercise in button-mashing, and it can get pretty dull and repetitive quickly.

Lackluster and not so bright

All in all, Dungeon Stars is an amusing action side-scroller that features a decent gameplay. However, you’ll quickly realize that it doesn’t really have much to offer in terms of variety of content, and quickly becomes rather boring after a while. If you’re just after something that you can play in short bursts or to pass the time, it’s worth considering. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
