Asymmetrical multiplayer strategy game
OBEY is a strategy game by a single developer, Dez. It is an asymmetrical multiplayer game with a unique premise. Rather than players defeating each other by sending commands to their troops. It lets you command your enemies or be commanded by them.
OBEY will remind players of Counter-Strike Jailbreak Mod and Spy Party. Here, only one player can command the other players. The rest can use stealth, trickery, and creativity to escape your command or take that power. However, despite this unique concept, what each session entertains depends on how the players play the game.
Command or be commanded
OBEY is a unique party game suitable for casual nights or intense game nights. As mentioned, your goal is to amass the most money faster than your opponents. However, the method of doing so isn’t simple. There are two ways you can play the game. Additionally, you will need stealth, trickery, and even the ability to betray a friend’s trust.
The game starts with all of you playing as cute little bunnies running around the map. The first one to reach the massive robot with killer guns becomes the overlord. As the overlord, you can incinerate every other bunny within close proximity. You can also enslave the other bunnies and command them to let them collect the materials you need and deposit them in the collection box on the field.
If you are one of the bunnies, you don’t have a choice but to obey and hope that the overlord will give you money as a reward instead of incinerating you. However, your life as a bunny is not all gloom and doom. If you are clever and stealthy enough, you can sneak into the robot and kill the player inside it. That way, you can become the new overlord.
The fun depends on the players
OBEY is an interesting concept made into a fun game. The gameplay is extremely simple, although mastering it requires creativity and strategy. Its cute graphics also cover the bloodthirsty experience that awaits players in each session. However, the game entertainment value depends on the players you’re playing with. Additionally, as this is relatively new, there aren’t a lot of players in the lobbies.
