Play NES games in 3D!

3dSenVR converts classic and homebrew NES games into full three-dimensional environments. The utility tool was developed by Geod Studio for NES fans to see their favorite retro games in 3D. While it is only limited to single players, it offers full support for controllers and VR devices. In VR mode, the emulator will adjust to your movements. This allows you to play while seated, standing, or walking. You can also add other inputs like tracked motion controllers, gamepads, and headsets. It’s important for your VR Headset to have a valve index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and a Mixed Reality system. 

What is a NES Emulator? 

The 3DSen VR allows your computer to emulate NES’s hardware and play its games on the platform. It also surpasses the limitations of the original NES console by offering broader controller compatibility, timescale controller, higher resolution graphics, unlock gameplay features and more. Advanced users can also use this as part of the development process of homebrew demos as well as the reboot of older, discontinued, or rare consoles. 

The process of converting NES ROMs for 3DSen VR involves Stereoscopy and 3D rendering. Each pixel of the original game is extracted from the background and moved to a designated area, creating an illusion of depth. For example, you can look down the pipe and see spinning plants in Super Mario.  While the animations may not be available in other games, the true 3D form will always cast shadows on items behind it. 

What can I play on 3dSen VR? 

3DSen VR offers a wide variety of games you can play. It includes popular NES games like Bomberman,  Castlevania, Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, and Mario Bros. All the games compatible with 3DSenVr are either official NES games or homebrew titles. Note that light gun or zapper games are also included in the list. They can be controlled using the VR motion controller, and your shooting accuracy will be handled by the emulator’s artificial intelligence. It will be able to calculate if you were able to hit your target or not. 

Note that 3DSen VR does not come with ROMs.  This means you will need to download NES ROMs from third-party platforms. Emulators typically do not infringe any copyright infringement – and if it did, it is unlikely that a developer will call copyright infringement for a game that no one owns the rights to. In essence, you can emulate any game for backup purposes as long as it’s for personal use.

3DSen VR is a suitable emulator for experienced gamers and Nintendo enthusiasts. Booting the emulator will require some experience with ROMs or coding. Availing ROMs from hosting platforms can infringe copyright laws but for as long as you keep the games for yourself, you will not incur a copyright strike. Apart from that, playing classic NES games can be a smooth and fun experience. The 3D appearance of NES characters and the worlds they inhabit provide a clearer environment for you to play in.
