Free 2D vertical climbing game

There are dozens of vertical climbing games available in the market today, and some have gone on to become classics like Doodle Jump and Mega Jump. In the 3D and colorful world of climbing games, indie developer Heather Flowers created a black and white 2D game called Ladderdot. Flowers developed Ladderdot as a game that does not have any characters or story. It was specially made for users that just want a simple and straightforward game experience.

What is the best climbing game?

Ladderdot features shifting arenas of various sizes and two black dots. You play as the small dot, and your goal is to push the large black circle upwards. You need to make sure that you push it towards an area that has enough space for it to fit. Otherwise, it will fall into oblivion and the game starts from the beginning. The black circle moves only when you push it or by the arena when it shifts.

As for you, you can move freely (left, right, up, and down). The unique movement system creates a natural flow of movement for all the elements in the game. Ladderdot’s straightforward approach to gameplay can make it feel repetitive. Fortunately, there are 3 game modes available so you can feel the excitement for hours on end. The modes are simply Easy, Medium, and Hard. In each level, the platforms shift faster and more erratically.

This means you will need to keep your eyes peeled for the nearest platform you can shift the larger circle to. Once you start playing, Ladderdot will begin to record your scores. You will see your highest scores per level displayed on the home screen. The game doesn’t offer online play or a world-ranking system but, seeing the high-score tracking system makes you want to keep playing and attain a new high score.

Fewer graphics, more fun

Ladderdot is an extremely simple game but it can be very challenging to play. Every player will need to create a strategy as they play since the platforms move around at random. If the shifting arena wasn’t challenging enough, you can select medium or hard mode to see the arenas move even faster. Your efforts will not go unnoticed; you can find your best scores on each level on the homepage. Overall, Ladderdot is worth trying out.
