Made for India accounting software

GNUKhata is a free and flexible open-source software for accounting and inventory management. Developed by Digital Freedom Foundation, this software aims to help small and medium-sized businesses with sales, invoicing, inventory, purchases, dual ledgers, and more. It provides GST-compliant solutions to businesses to help them automate accounting entries and streamline their invoice and report generation. The app comes with an array of functions that you can use for personal and business finance management, store inventory management, and corporate tax works. However, unlike rival accounting software, GNUKhata keeps the process simple to help you work faster and better.

Automated accounting

As mentioned, GNUKhata aims to simplify accounting and inventory management for you. To begin with, the app comes with a straightforward interface, conveniently organized to help you work easier. You can choose to manage different accounts and projects and access them easily. The app formats all major tools, such as ledgers, statement of affairs, and project statements professionally—all of which are presentable and customizable. The app also has an interesting feature called the Dual-Level, which allows you to open two ledgers side-by-side on the screen, so you can compare them. GNUKhata also allows users to read down from trial balance to the ledger and ledger to the voucher.

Aside from basic accounting and inventory, GNUKhata also comes with a feature called Close Books, which allows you to close your books at the end of the financial year. With this, all your profit and expense accounts are either debited or credited to Profit and Loss, so you get them balanced properly. However, if you wish to carry over all your closing balances as opening for the next year, you may choose the option called Roll Over

Overall, GNUKhata is a great option for small businesses looking for reliable accounting software. The app is fast, robust, and easy-to-use. However, its installation can be a lot of work. Moreover, the app is India-focused, so it is not usable by everyone.
