Integrate Pokémon into your Minecraft world

Cobblemon is a free open-source Pokémon game mod for Minecraft Fabric and Forge. It aims to be the Pokémon mod suitable for all players and seamlessly integrates into mod packs and Minecraft. Plus, since it has an open-source code, users and the community can contribute and even alter the project.

Cobblemon adds features inspired by Pokémon, such as the ability to catch and battle wild Pokémon. To begin playing, players need to make sure they have the appropriate files and mod loader installed. A step-by-step guide is available to help players install the mod and start their own adventure quickly.

Two worlds collide

Cobblemon includes all of the Pokémons from Gen 1 and all variations of their evolutions; some Pokémon from other generations are also present, but not all of them. This Minecraft mod offers a range of features, including competitive battle mechanics using the Pokémon Showdown! engine, Legends Arceus-style mechanics, and toggle-free movement during battles. Players can also harvest Apricorns from trees of different colors and use Bone Meal on them.

With this mod, different kinds of Pokémon can spawn anywhere. This custom also provides support for different biomes, including Terralith and Oh The Biomes You’ll Go, with evolution stones and healers available. There are tons of varying animation styles for each Pokémon, and this useful mod fully supports custom variations and fakemon using data packs and resource packs for better customization options.

Since different developers independently craft this mod, players must expect it not to run as smoothly as expected. However, there are a couple of channels where players can communicate with the developers for any errors, so any issues should be fixed easily. Still, like with any other mod, it’s not officially licensed by Pokémon or Minecraft, so always proceed cautiously in the installation process.

What’s new in version 1.3.1?

Version 1.3.1, Cobblemon’s latest update, brings a few additions, changes, and improvements to the mod. New Pokémon variants Slugma, Magcargo, Nosepass, and Probopass are added, and drops of the Elgyem and Geodude families have been changed to Chorus Fruit and Black Augurite, respectively. The update also allows the smelting of Apricorns into dyes. Some commands and extra animations are added, too.

Graphics-centric changes are made, too, from added presets to improved Pokémon models and textures. Spawn rates for Ditto, the Eevee, Gible, and Riolu families are increased, while the spawn rate for Gyarados is lowered. Besides that, fixes to user-reported bugs and errors have been implemented as well, ensuring smoother gameplay from here on out.

Enjoyable, but not perfect

Cobblemon is an impressive mod that lets you enjoy Minecraft with Pokémon. It offers an array of features, including toggle-free movement, competitive battle mechanics, Legends Arceus-style mechanics, and different animations for each Pokémon. While the mod may have some performance issues, players can communicate with the developers to fix any problems. As with any mod, be cautious during the installation process.
