A VR Game that Beautifully Blends Ballet and Music

Firebird – La Peri is a VR game that is more like an art piece than a game. The game blends elements of theater, ballet and fairytales and showcases gliding and glittering vision through virtual reality.

Premise and Gameplay

La Peri is a musical story that revolves around a flower of immortality. The story happens around you predominantly as a ballet act set to the tune of classical music. ‘Peri’ is basically a person dancing out of your grasp, with other creatures circling close to the flower petals that you should grab. Though the game is dance-based, you should not be expecting too much of dance movements which is kind of a bummer, particularly with the Vive already having many games that foster multiple kinds of athleticism and exercise. Though there is little to do with respect to dancing, it actually ends up making the game a lot easier to grasp and get rolling with.

Beautiful Visuals

The visuals of the game are extremely enchanting, with the imagery being the biggest draw. Even people who’ve played many games on Vive would find this game sparking a feeling of delight and surprise. The stage pieces’ movement feel natural, and the backdrops’ vast scale and colors feel impactful and immersive. The in-game controllers are stylized and interesting as well. The music is composed by Paul Dukas and the production design is courtesy VR Studio Innerspace, which is an award-winning French production house. The game heavily relies on touch controllers, enabling you to directly interact with the creatures and features that populate the world.
