Card collecting and ball kicking
There are two main gameplay elements in Boom Boom Football—the collection of team member cards and the actual matches themselves. The quick walkthrough that happens when you start a new game explains pretty much everything. Each match happens quickly, in a series of highly detailed and action-packed animated cutscenes, and you only have to tap the screen on specified areas. There’s no need to control the players.
Once you clear the tutorial, you’ll be rewarded with a player card pack. The players you’ll get will be your starting team, with three defense and offense members plus one kicker. These cards are tiered from Bronze to All Star and they show the names and power ratings of each player. You can then customize your team’s name and jersey design and color.
Before each round, you’ll have to compare your card stats against your opponent’s to determine your chances of winning. As you make your way up the tournament and win matches, you’ll get either cards or in-game currency that you can spend on more card packs. Bear in mind, though, that each match you play costs tickets or energy, and you may run out of those if you’re playing nonstop.
