Interactive wormhole simulator for PC

Wormhole Demo is a free simulation game made by indie developer BenderiteGames. It is an astronomy-themed simulator that lets players experience and interact with a real-time computer rendering of a wormhole. It was based on established and publicized mathematical equations and theories by experts in the field.

Much like Stellarium or Astrolog, Wormhole Demo was made for people who are fascinated by space and have taken an interest in the scientific field of astronomy. This simulator allows players to see what it would be like to be inside a wormhole and how it’s theorized to form and move.

What can I do with it?

A wormhole is a speculative structure believed to link two disparate points in spacetime. It was a theory that was based on a special equation from the renowned physicist, Albert Einstein’s field equations. Various scientific papers have been published about this specific phenomenon and have been made available to the public. Some have made interactive CG renderings based on them, and Wormhole Demo is one such example.

This program enables you to see what a wormhole would look like up close. You will be able to orbit around it, fly through it to the other side, explore its internal structure, and extend its length to however long you want. What’s more, you will also be able to cycle through various skyboxes and grid projections to help you understand its inner workings a bit better.

The game will require a fair bit of horsepower from your PC. As such, a graphics card is pretty much a requirement to run it properly. In the same vein, one of the more modern GPUs that have built-in support for raytracing would be advisable to take advantage of all the graphical settings that this simulator has. Nvidia’s RTX 30-series or AMD’s RX 6000-series cards are prime examples.

A fascinating exploration

All in all, if you’re into astronomy and anything space-related, then you’ve more than likely encountered what wormholes are all about. With Wormhole Demo, you will be able to see what it would look like with the help of CG rendering and be able to explore its theoretical structure and inner workings up close. Highly recommended.
