Put Bridget Jones to shame with this smart diary app
Have you ever wished you had the time and energy to keep a diary? Try Journal (by Journey), which provides a beautiful interface through which you can easily document your travels, or muse on your day-to-activities in a very visual way.
Dear diary…
Journal allows you to write diary entries and add photos to document your journey through life. It can track and display your location (or you can do this manually), motion activities, and the weather, then stamp this info to your entries.
If you add photos it will auto-detect when they are from and enter the entry under this date. It can even add the weather for a certain day in the past if you tag the entry with a location. Unfortunately, Journal doesn’t pull GPS location data from the existing photos from your Gallery, so you’ll need to tag these manually.
You can share Journal entries as text files, HTML or in Zip format. The premium version of the app includes Markdown support which is great if you want to export to a blog, for example.
Other features of Journal include Google Drive sync and a handy quick add widget for jotting thoughts down as soon as they pop into your head.
An incredible journey
Journal looks so crisp and is so satisfying to use that you’ll be inspired to write lots of entries. The editing panel is very clear, though you can alter the font size if you like. It includes the ability to tag your entries for sorting and filtering at a later point.
Reading your Journal entries is a real joy. You can swipe effortlessly through all the entries in chronoliigcal order, which feels very much like reading your own autobiography. Alternatively, you can browse by Calendar view, Photo view, or Atlas view. The latter of these is very cool if you do a lot of traveling and like to record what’s going on.
Keep memories alive
Even if you pulled out your best handwriting and stuck in photos as straight as can be, your diary could never be as neat as those in Journal. Its interface is impeccable and it’s a fun, hassle-free way to jot down what’s going on in your world.
