Experience redefined convenience

GTWorld is a free-to-use financial app that allows GTBank customers to manage their financial transactions online. Returning with a fresh black and orange look, it has overhauled the interface to make it friendlier, even for non-technical users. Check your balance, send and receive funds, or make purchases right from the app.

Combining the features of a digital wallet and an online banking app, GTWorld is a promising app and shows a major improvement over the previous iteration. Unfortunately, it still suffers from the same major problem, accessibility and network stability, which derails the user experience.

Track accounts and pay on mobile

The main advantage of GTWorld is that it combines a digital wallet and a mobile bank in one. It supports account transactions such as receiving and sending money to other accounts, while also letting users pay bills or even buy data—although the latter services only work with select partners. Also, it allows users to sign up for an account and get verified online.

In terms of layout, it sports a visually striking orange-and-black layout that makes it easy to navigate and distinguish in-app elements. Other screens retained the old white background, which helps make the app intuitive to both new and existing users. It even works well with modern smartphones, useful for scanning QR codes or taking selfies for verification, provided that the right device permissions are granted.

One catch is that it only works for account holders in the Guaranty Trust Bank, which is a leading financial institution in Africa as well as offices in other parts of the world. However, the more pressing issue is that users continue to report having difficulties connecting to the app. Some of them get stuck in a loop while trying to sign on the platform.

New design, same old problems

Despite the massive redesigns that definitely improve the user experience, GTWorld still suffers from the same issues: primarily in trying to connect to the platform. This intermittent issue essentially hinders the major improvements that the app has received. From additional merchant and billing support to the more navigable color schemes, the app will remain unfavorable unless its core issues are resolved.
