Single-player action/fantasy RPG

Blade of Darkness is a single-player RPG that offers a soul-like environment alongside 2D hack-and-slash action. It has also been engineered to provide a retro feel, making this platform similar to other games, including those in the Ninja Gaiden Master Collection.

Blade of Darkness tells the story of a single hero who has been chosen to battle a formidable group of enemies in order to restore balance to a chaotic world. Dubbed the “Champion of Ianna,” users can wield powerful weapons while exploring an expansive open-world environment.

Four character classes

Players can select one of four different character classes. They are defined as a barbarian, a dwarf, a knight, or an amazon. Each of them is associated with unique strengths as well as a handful of weaknesses. Note that it is possible to switch characters when required.

A fair amount of blood and gore

Players can craft devastating combinations in order to defeat challenging foes. It is possible to cut enemies in half, hack off limbs, and use nearby objects when needed. Thus, this game can certainly be defined as a classic hack-and-slash platform.

An upgraded classic

It should be mentioned that this game is essentially an evolved version of the original Severance: Blade of Darkness. Initially released in 2001, this new version offers a host of unique improvements, such as smoother mechanics, new display settings, and 4K resolution.

Old-school combat and adventure

Anyone who is a fan of the hack-and-slash games associated with the early 2000s should be impressed by what Blade of Darkness has to offer. Not only can it be compared to various classics, such as Dark Souls, but the sheer number of in-game improvements is impressive.
