Strategic Lord of the Rings mobile game
LotR: Heroes of Middle-earth is a free adventure game for mobile devices developed by Electronic Arts. This strategy RPG title is set in the popular Lord of the Rings universe. In it, players get to relive the original trilogy and play various characters from the series.
Similar to The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War or The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth, LotR: Heroes of Middle-earth takes on a more tactical approach to gameplay. Players will need to consider each character’s strength as they engage in turn-based combat, facing all kinds of monsters and enemies.
Relive the original trilogy
The Lord of the Rings series received universal acclaim when it debuted and is considered one of the best film trilogies ever made. Its lasting popularity has spread throughout various forms of media and entertainment, from TV shows to video games. LotR: Heroes of Middle-earth is one of the latter, and it will let you relive the original trilogy all over again or for the first time.
This game’s Story Mode will have you experience iconic scenes and narratives through the eyes of Frodo, Sam, and the rest of the cast. Choose from the films’ memorable characters to form a team, level up their skills to take on orcs, and be wary of the ever-watchful eye of the Dark Lord Sauron. Destroy the ring or succumb to its temptations—the choice is yours.
You’ll also get to explore and interact with other factions in the world of Middle-earth that weren’t touched upon like the Haradrim or Dúnedain. Take a break from the story and take on other players in squad battles via online PvP mode. With all that said, the gameplay experience feels rather thin and could use more content and things to do.
Great but needs more
All in all, LotR: Heroes of Middle-earth is a great reason for long-time fans to jump back into the series and relive iconic moments from the trilogy once more. If you’re new to the series, this is a good introduction that makes the experience fun and engaging. Hopefully, more content will get added in the future. Nevertheless, this is worth checking out.
