Physics can be a time waster too!
Numpty Physics is a little puzzle game for Windows that melds cute schoolbook-style graphics with a kind of realistic physics engine.
Every screen has the same objective: you must make the red object touch the yellow star, by drawing lines and objects to propel them somehow towards each other. There is a logic behind each puzzle, and completing them is entirely down to your own ingenuity.
There are a couple of introductory levels to Numpty Physics that teach you the basics, and it seems really simple. Not so! You’ll need your logic hat on for some of these, and very speedy mouse skills for others.
While it looks charming throughout, Numpty Physics seriously lacking a hints system. When you’re stuck, you’re stuck. It’s an open source game, and its documentation is decidedly amateurish. If you are an expert in mechanics, you’ll probably have more success than we did!
Despite its difficulty, it is quite moreish, and finding solutions to some levels is rewarding, which pushes you on to try more. Overall it’s a cool idea which needs a little more sympathy for its players.
If you’re looking for a challenge, Numpty Physics is certainly that… but be prepared for frustration.
