A thrilling futuristic action adventure
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is an action RPG, set in 2027, five years before the original Deus Ex which was hugely popular on Mac. You play Adam Jensen, a security officer for controversial human augmentation company Sarif Industries, as he tries to find out who is attacking the company and why.
Due to an accident, Jensen’s eye has been replaced with a bionic one which gives him cyborg like powers of sight (check out The Eyeborg Documentary for the backdrop to this).
Like the Mass Effect series, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is an ‘immersive simulation’, with a wonderfully realized world full of people to interact with, where player choice is instrumental in the storyline. The great thing about the game is that you really can play how you like, and you aren’t punished for changing your mind.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution can be played stealthily, or aggressively, and you can mix up your style as you feel fit. Your actions and words have an effect on how the story plays out, which not only feels great when you’re playing but gives the game plenty of replay value.
The gameplay in Deus Ex: Human Revolution is excellent. While the controls may take a while to get used to, they work really well. In fire-fights, shooting and cover are excellent, while the up-close kills that Adam Jensen preforms are suitably gruesome.
The world of Deus Ex: Human Revolution is stylish, and characters are well acted and animated. The only major criticisms of the game are that the boss fights are disappointing, and there are some pretty long load times as well. Despite this, it is still hugely enjoyable and immersive.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is deep and immersing, with excellent gameplay that allows players to be really creative. Do not miss.
