Premium DLC for RE: Village
Resident Evil Village Winter’s Expansion is a paid downloadable content developed for the Capcom game Resident Evil: Village. It adds new content and promises additional story material for the action hit. From an all-new camera perspective to the opportunity to use Lady Dimitrescu in the game’s The Mercenaries mode, you can revisit the titular village and play from various vantage points.
Without changing the visuals and the gameplay, Resident Evil Village Winter’s Expansion feels right at home with its base game. Similarly, you might be interested in Resident Evil 3 or Resident Evil 7 for other parts of the franchise.
New story, new characters
As a DLC for the original RE: Village, Resident Evil Village Winter’s Expansion adds a good amount of new content to the base game. First off is its new story, titled Shadow of Rose. Rose Winters is seen as a baby, the young daughter of the base game’s protagonist Ethan. Here, you get to follow her story 16 years after the main storyline.
For players of Village, you’ve probably tried out the arcade-like shooting minigame known as The Mercenaries. Apart from returning after a long absence in the franchise, it expands even more with The Mercenaries Additional Orders. You get to use the nine-foot boss Lady Dimitrescu together with franchise stars Chris Redfield and Karl Heisenberg, the latter with his giant hammer and power over magnetism.
Also, it resolves a lingering issue from the base game by adding a third-person perspective as you play. However, as a DLC, remember that it still requires you to have the base game. Be warned, too, as the Shadow of Rose storyline is markedly more difficult compared to the base game. If you had a hard time with Ethan, get ready for Rose.
A must-have for RE Fans
Resident Evil Village Winter’s Expansion is a great addition not only for players of RE: Village looking for new content but for fans of the franchise in general. It gives a nod to other games in the franchise with the addition of Chris and Karl. More importantly, it adds a more challenging sequel to the main story with Shadow of Rose. Highly recommended.
