Create virtual worlds in this Minecraft-style game

WorldCraft allows you to create vast virtual worlds from blocks and objects, in much the same way as you can in Minecraft. The game features a multiplayer mode in which you can join forces with others online to create worlds.
Is WorldCraft the new Minecraft?
Obvious comparisons will be drawn between WorldCraft and the “creative” mode in Minecraft, as the gameplay is very much the same. You wander around a pixelated world building constructions using the various building blocks and items at your disposal.
Besides the basic building blocks there are things like bads, doors and lamps you can use to decorate your houses. However, there’s not as much of a range of stuff to adorn your worlds as there is in Minecraft. WorldCraft is still missing fences, cars, gates and the ability to create people in single-player mode.
Controls in WorldCraft
Moving around in WorldCraft is done by sliding your finger around the circle in the bottom-left of the screen. You jump by using the jump button in the right-hand corner.
The controls are generally cumbersome and movement is clumsy at times. Often you will start climbing when you thought you would stop, which can make laying bricks annoying.
How does it look?
WorldCraft looks very similar to Minecraft so fans of flashy graphics won’t be blown away by the visuals. It’s all very blocky and pixelated and there’s no music or sound effects to liven things up.
The verdict
WorldCraft can be addictive if you’re into these kind of build-it-yourself strategy games. The multiplayer mode works well and it’s a decent (though much more limited) alternative to Minecraft for those who can’t get it on their Android device.
