Imperious – Races of Skyrim Review

A new overhaul of our favorite role playing mod, Imperious has been created by Enai Siaion, who is currently the foremost authority of race overhauls among skyrim Modders. This new overhaul of Imperious has a few defining features that make it stand out from most other similar mods, as well as creating a few new problems of its own. The main difference between this overhaul and many of the similar ones that have come before it is that it actually overhauls several of the vanilla races, replacing their powers and stats with unique ones that complement their respective roles better than their previous versions.

One such example is that of the Chaurus, the strong yet deadly vampires that stalk the northern wastes of Nirnagoth. Vanilla Immimsics had them as being quite powerful, but not quite powerful enough to challenge Balgrundur and his vampires at the highest levels of the game, as well as being one of the hardest, challengeable enemies in the game, which made them rather boring to fight. It was then, in an effort to remedy this boredom, that Siaion created the Chaurus Hunter Race, giving them all the benefits of the original vanilla creature without making them too overpowered. It may be a minor detail, but the fact that these Chaurus now have Chaurus Shrikes as a secondary ability added to their standard abilities definitely makes them a very rewarding race to level up with. Imperious – Races of Skyrim now offers an entire new chapter of challenges, entirely different from what we’ve previously seen in the vanilla game, which are the reason why I feel that the mod is a definite success.

There are a couple of other unique features of Imperious – Races of Skyrim that make them worth their weight in gold. The most important one is the inclusion of a customizable Feline Agility skill tree, which adds a very useful bonus to your arsenal of attack skills. Feline agility allows you to quickly increase your speed, damage, and stamina, and at the same time reduces the damage you take while sprinting. This greatly helps you against high-level mobs as well as low-level monsters that are more pack-wise and therefore more difficult to kill. Not only that, but it also greatly increases your chances of finding items in heavily-populated areas such as towns and cities.
