Evangélica FM: The First Truly Evangelical Radio Station in Brazil
Evangélica FMis the first genuinely evangelical radio station organized in Brazil. The idea of an interdenominational station existed since the late 1970s. The station aired in the experimental phase in September 1985 and finally on October 20 of the same year, becoming the first gospel radio station in Brazil. Initially named “Hope FM,” the station’s programming aired from 6:00 am to midnight. However, it is now on air 24 hours a day.
The station does not belong to any particular denomination, church, or business group and has no profit and is focused on spreading the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. The FERPE is responsible for its administration and was organized with the purpose of giving life to the dream of an exclusively Christian radio station. Even with the arrival of other stations in the same segment, Evangélica FMstands out for bringing her story in the forefront of the brand.
