Browse Netflix’s catalogue of content in virtual reality
Netflix VR is an app that’s uniquely compatible with Google’s Daydream virtual reality viewing device, though it promises to be available to more platforms in the future. It allows you to watch television, movies and other Netflix fare (but mostly television and movies) with a normal Netflix subscription and all the benefits of VR.
Blurry Vision
As a VR app, Netflix VR unfortunately has a few small deficiencies. Here’s the bad news: there’s some blurriness when moving around, and it’s hard to avoid ever doing that. There’s also an issue of heating: in our testing, using the app created an uncomfortable level of warmth, and other user reviews seem to agree that this can occur. Now here’s the good news: it’s still Netflix. It still has programming from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and good old early 2000s. It still has movies. It still has countless genres, special editions, and even exclusives.
See For Yourself
The picture quality you’ll get with Netflix VR isn’t as fine as it is on the big screen, meaning that some people may still prefer the non-VR version of the app. But those who already own a VR device and have a Netflix subscription would be well-served to give this app a try, particularly as it develops, and enjoy Netflix’s breathtaking catalogue of programming options. Fundamentally, Netflix alone provides more content than many other apps combined, and no early adopter should miss out on that.
