Fight capitalism in this beat-em-up game

Tonight We Riot is an indie game developed by Pixel Pushers Union 512. This is a beat-em-up game that will have you control a crowd of workers rather than a single character. Your mission is to liberate factories and encourage other workers in the hopes of fighting capitalism.

Tonight We Riot is an interesting take on the arcade games. It is a bit different from classic beat-em-up titles as it has no attacks to mix up and traditional scores and only a few pickups. Your ending score is determined by the number of rioters who survive the level.

Not your usual beat-em-up

In Tonight We Riot, you play as a worker trying to fight capitalism by liberating factories and encouraging more workers to fight. As mentioned, you control a crowd instead of a single player. Each member of your mob will have their weapons to fight against the police, militias, and Pinkertons. Each level ends in boss fights ranging from police’s large vehicles to the president of the game’s fictional country.

The game only consists of a single attack button. With this, you cannot mix up attacks to create combos. Additionally, your score depends on the number of rioters left at the end of the level. You will have to try to keep many alive as you move forward. Moreover, you can unlock the weapons and upgrades for your leader and crew by reaching the right number of survivors.

However, players will find the weapon selection system a little challenging. You will have to cycle through each tool to get the weapon. Additionally, only the leader can wield melee weapons. As this is an indie game, the gameplay will be short. You can finish the entire game in less than two hours. Moreover, it is not that challenging, allowing you to get three stars on your first try.

Start a riot

Overall, Tonight We Riot is a fun game to pick up. It is a bite-size game that offers an interesting take on the beat-em-up genre. Its mechanics are easy to pick up, and its one-button control makes it simpler to play. However, it could use a weapon wheel and better weapon distribution. Additionally, the gameplay is too short that the fun is short-lived
