Adopt a Lebensborn in this simulation game
My Child Lebensborn is a mobile game by Sarepta Studios, which simulates the life of a single parent. The game is set in post-World War II Norway and will have you play as an adoptive parent to a war orphan. Your goal is to make the kid happy using your meager income and a limited time.
My Child Lebensborn boasts amazing visuals and sound. However, despite its simple visual novel premise and presentation, it comes with tons of emotional triggers. More than time and budget management, it also tackles heavy topics, including school bullying and hatred.
What can you expect from this game?
My Child Lebensborn is a life simulator that captures the struggle of Lebensborn children after the defeat of the Nazis. Lebensborn is a program launched by the German Nazis during World War II. The program uprooted Norwegian children fathered by German soldiers to raise and indoctrinate them in Germany. However, after the liberation of Norway, these children are sent back. Worse, most mothers gave them up for adoption.
In the game, you will play as an adoptive parent to a Lebensborn child. The gameplay is simple and resembles that of casual games, Pou and My Talking Tom. You will make sure to feed, bathe, and take care of the child. All of this takes place through a simple budget management system, in which you will balance your meager post-war income and time against the kid’s needs.
More than the overall welfare, you will also need to deal with the kid’s emotional turmoil. As mentioned, the child will face bullying from children, adults, and even teachers due to their parentage. Because of this, their once happy and curious disposition will transform into sadness and distrust. It will be your job to influence the kid’s worldview and personality through the choices you make.
Should you play it?
Overall, My Child Lebensborn is a masterpiece presented in an easy-to-play game. The entire storyline is beautifully written and managed to capture the hardship of post-war Norway. The graphics are also wonderfully made and greatly impacted the game’s heart-wrenching plot. However, since it tackles trauma and school bullying, expect heavy and emotional scenes. Players with emotional tendencies should play the game with caution.
