Resident Evil mod for Battlefield 2
The Umbrella Mod is a free-to-use game utility for Battlefield 2. This mod introduces the Umbrella Corporation, a huge organization prominently featured in the Resident Evil (RE) franchise. It contains custom textures and models and even features zombie-themed content. Expect new character designs, making it more reminiscent of the last stand-inspired scenarios from the long-running RPG franchise.
By adding this into your mod library, you get to experience a similar world to those of Resident Evil HD Remaster and Resident Evil 3. However, the new game experience still retains game mechanics from the base Battlefield game.
What to expect from the mod
Essentially, the Umbrella Mod consolidates other zombie-inspired mods, adds a few minor fixes, and releases them under a single download set–making for a literal and a figurative umbrella mod for zombie-inspired add-ons. It contains custom character and weapon skins, some of which are reskinned from existing weapons in the original game. Basically, while it lacks original content from itself, it’s commendable for the effort to make materials accessible and convenient.
In terms of player support, it is available for both solo and multiplayer, letting you create rooms where others can join. It has a couple of new maps not available in the base version of the game. Fans of the RE franchise might be disappointed, though, as the maps are not directly lifted from any of the memorable locations used in the survival game series.
One highlight in this game is that it also allows you to play as a zombie, instead of a soldier trying to survive. This adds a refreshing twist for existing Battlefield 2 players who haven’t tried any of the zombie mods before. However, there is a bug in the mod that causes the game to crash as you climb the stairs while using the “Demon Zombie.”
A must-have for Battlefield players
Overall, there are a lot of materials Battlefield players can enjoy from the Umbrella Mod. It features new characters and weapon skins, lets you play as a zombie, and gives you a change of scenery thanks to its included map pack. Although it lacks original content on its own, new mod players might enjoy its convenience. There are also bugs in the game, including those that cause crashes.
