Dark grand strategy game for PC

Solium Infernum is a premium strategy game for PC by developer League of Greeks. It’s a grand strategy title that is set in the dark hellish underworld and imbued with political intrigue and a struggle for power among multiple factions. It also features turn-based mechanics for its combat.

Much like Age of Civilizations II and Crusader Kings III, Solium Infernum is a game of cunning and wit wherein players will need to do whatever it takes to get ahead. What makes it stand out from its modern contemporaries is its use of supernatural themes for its narrative and overall design.

A play for the Dark Throne

Solium Infernum takes place in the Infernal Kingdom of Hell itself, wherein The Prince of Darkness has mysteriously vanished, leaving The Throne without an occupant. You play as one of eight Archfiends, overlords of the underworld, looking to take your place as the new ruler. Enter the capital city of Pandaemonium and weave through all the political subtleties of the Infernal Conclave to achieve your goals.

Each of the eight overlords in Solium Infernum boasts unique powers, territories, and legions you will need to bolster to overwhelm the opposition. There is more than one way to the throne, and it’s up to you if you want to force your way through with might or take a more subtle approach and control events from the shadows using sorcery, rituals, and all manner of dark machinations.

What’s more, you can take all the dark political scheming and test your cunning with others via online multiplayer with up to six players. It even supports asynchronous gameplay, meaning you engage in long drawn-out battles that can last days or weeks. If all of this piques your interest, you, unfortunately, have to wait for some time longer since the game’s in development.

Hellish red tape

If you love grand strategy games that delve deep into the political side of things, then Solium Infernum is a release that you should definitely try. It manages to incorporate such deep and involved gameplay systems into its unique setting — a fictional hell with occult themes and occasional violence— and premise of vying for power and control. The game contains occasional depictions of violence so just take note.
