Additional content for Total War: Kingdoms

Insularis Draco Mod is a free-to-use game utility developed by modder UrbgenKinbran. As a massive overhaul of an earlier mod, this adds new fixes and features to the turn-based strategy classic Medieval II: Total War: Kingdoms. It focuses on different parts of Europe shortly after Attila the Hun was stopped at the Battle of the Catalaunian Plains.

In Insularis Draco Mod, you can participate in a war-torn part of Ireland’s history, the rise of houses in Britannia, or oversee the rise of the Germanic peoples. Check out The Last Kingdom Mod or JLMP Vanilla Kingdoms 2022 Mod for more content.

Experience a different European period in full

The Insularis Draco Mod offers a lot of content that aims to give players a taste of different European historical milestones along the same period. One main feature of this game is the Catalaunian Fields prologue, which lets you play as the Romans, the Salian Franks, the Thuringians, or the Visigoths. Be warned, though, that playing this scenario can get demanding for your setup.

Visually, the mod also reworks the rough and blocky coastlines, which was an unwelcome feature in the vanilla version. Here, the coastlines are smoother, making it easier to navigate—not to mention the visual improvement it provides. The mod also optimizes the game, which removes your user interface while it’s not yet your turn. It reduces the resources required and allows you to pay more attention to the events on-screen.

This mod is still not perfect despite being largely playable at this scale. There’s an exclusive bug while playing the Powys Campaign, which forces the game to crash and makes it unrecoverable. This is the most reported issue, although other game-crashing bugs have been reported while playing other campaigns—although these might be isolated cases caused by other, external factors. Aside from the Powys bug, the mod is mostly playable.

Must-have for history fans

If you’re a fan of Vikings, Rome, or any other part of European history, then Insularis Draco Mod is a great addition to your Total War: Kingdoms library. In terms of scale, it provides the player with different vantage points across the continent—showing how different civilizations develop at almost the same time. Be warned, though, that in its commitment to accuracy, playing this mod can be resource-intensive.
