Deliver goods from Amazon
Amazon Flex is a business and productivity tool that hires independent contractors which are called delivery partners to deliver Amazon order goods to their customers. There are hundreds of millions of items that are available through Amazon which may vary from electronics, household essentials, etc. This delivery service application operates similarly to Uber or Lyft which means you’ll conduct all your various businesses through the app. Delivery partners use their vehicles to deliver packages to Amazon customers and its delivery service is available in more than 50 cities across the nation.
Pick up blocks and get paid
With Amazon Flex, you will be responsible for delivering packages or food through various services such as Amazon.com, Prime Now, AmazonFresh, and Amazon Restaurant. You will pick up blocks or also known as shifts which you will be required to pick up and deliver packages. You are free to schedule blocks as often as you like or as soon as they become available. You can choose shifts from the morning, afternoon, or evening—seven days a week—and get paid per hour.
This delivery app instructs you where to go, what to do, and how to do it once you’ve selected a schedule for a block. Your task as a delivery partner will basically revolve around picking up packages at a specific location, driving the orders to the specified places, and dropping off the right goods at houses in a particular area until you’ve delivered them all. Each block is consists of a fixed amount of deliveries that Amazon thinks can be completed within the set time frame. The drawback is if your block takes more time to deliver the company doesn’t provide extra pay. On a lighter note, Amazon pays drivers twice a week which is a great help for you if you need to earn money fast.
However, if you are a potential driver aiming to get a job in Amazon Flex, you should bring a lot of patience as the app can frustrate you many times. There’s a possibility that you’ll encounter issues with GPS, which constantly updates while routing. Its navigation tool is also not up-to-date. For instance, it is not aware of the certain right turns only in the downtown area during rush hours. There are also quite a handful of times wherein the app crashes, freezes, or shows “retry” prompt then, suddenly shuts down completely.
Needs further development
Amazon Flex is an app with great intentions. Unfortunately, it is hindered by all the app’s technical issues. They are one of the few companies that give a decent amount of pay to their delivery partners at the same time they allow flexible time schedules. However, its main mode to successfully perform their job badly needs to be developed and enhanced further as this becomes a big obstacle for the drivers.
