Tilt your phone to avoid the torrent of balls

The inclusion of an accelerometer in the iPhone has opened the doors for developers to create some really unique and interesting games.

Falling Balls is a very simple game that utilizes the accelerometer as a control method. A series of different-sized balls fall from the sky and bounce along the ground. Your job is to stop them from hitting you by tilting the phone left and right to move your little stick man.

Falling Balls takes a back-to-basics approach to everything, not just its gameplay. The graphics are so primitive they look like they’ve been drawn by a kid. Even the splatting blood effect when your character gets hit is very crudely executed.

There are no game options to speak of and no high scores table, only a single high score figure in the top corner of the display. In fact, the only noteworthy aspect of the game’s presentation is the hilarious ‘boing-ing’ noise that the balls make when they hit the ground.

Don’t get me wrong, Falling Balls is good, harmless, pick-up-and-play fun, but it’s got no depth to it whatsoever and eventually becomes tedious and repetitive.
