Journey to conquer the archipelago

Clash Quest is a free strategy mobile video game wherein you can try out a whole new subgenre using beloved Clash characters. Developed by Supercell, this turn-based combat game takes place in the same universe as Clash of Clans and Clash Royale—featuring beloved and classic characters from the popular mobile game franchise.

In Clash Quest, you’ll go through a series of levels in the form of undiscovered islands with your plucky group of playable characters. Old in-game assets and classic mechanics, make a comeback here and you also get to strengthen your character roster again to defeat powerful enemies.

Something a little bit new

The premise of Clash Quest is a bit similar to the developer’s other games but gives it a whole new spin with the turn-based combat. At each level, you have to face off against enemies and obstacles in a way that feels similar to tower defense and base conquering. You’re given a set amount of troops lined up in grid formation. If you lose them all, you fail the level.

The key to winning is to strategically have your troops attack whenever they’re next to copies of themselves—either on the same row or column. Deploying your units this way starts a combo attack with a damage multiplier. They’ll only attack once, though, and will then disappear off the grid. The remaining troops will move to the front afterward and new random units will fill in the blank spots from behind.

Similar to the other Clash games, your characters have different abilities and can be upgraded to become even stronger. You can also get items from rewards that can be equipped to make them more powerful. However, while this game offers a refreshing take on this franchise, the main drawback here is that it has a long energy refill downtime compared to most mobile games and even the other Clash games.

A standout Clash game

All in all, Clash Quest is a great expansion to the popular and addictive Clash universe—especially with its unique strategy gameplay mechanics. Not only does it offer new features, but it also brings back beloved game elements from the franchise. However, its long downtime for energy refills can take the fun out of the experience since you have to constantly wait just to continue conquering islands.
