Eco-friendly ride rental service
Bird — Ride Electric is a free travel application for mobile from developer Bird Rides Inc. It is a ride rental service that takes a “greener” approach to public transportation. Instead of traditional cars, it offers riders electric scooters, or e-scooters, for their daily commuting needs, which help reduce pollution caused by carbon waste.
Similar to Joy E-Bike or Urent e-scooters and bikes, Bird — Ride Electric aims to provide a cleaner, eco-friendly alternative to transportation. It also offers flexible and affordable pricing plans to make it more accessible to more people who have different needs and requirements.
Going electric
Electric vehicles, or EVs, are all the rage these days, and for good reason. They help reduce pollution, offer similar, if not better performance to motor engines, and cost much cheaper to charge up. While there are still some ways to go before mass adoption, you can already see more people using e-scooters for short commutes, and Bird is helping usher the way for the ride rental industry.
This transportation app is all about going green with its all-electric scooters. The way it works is you can scout your area for available rides. Once located, go and scan its barcode to unlock it and be able to use it. There are multiple passes that you can avail of, including a Day Pass that offers 30-minute rides for 24 hours or unlimited unlocks with a Weekly Unlock Pass.
There are also group rides that you can join or start yourself—a great way to learn the ropes from other more experienced riders. However, there is one issue with this service that needs to be addressed ASAP, and that is the lack of information regarding e-scooters’ battery status. Many have complained to have unlocked their rides, only to find out there’s no charge left.
A viable, cleaner alternative
All in all, Bird is an interesting new ride rental service with admirable aspirations. It’s a viable and clean alternative transport option that is ideal for short commutes. It’s easy to unlock rides and you have multiple passes to choose from depending on your needs. Hopefully, the issues with battery charges get addressed soon. Otherwise, this is well worth trying out.
